![]() ![]() ![]() The combat in this one feels rather dull, janky, and a distraction to the rest of the game. Planetfall? I wouldn't say because it's more focused on ranged combat.Įscrito originalmente por Hero:By comparison, AoW: Planetfall had the most engaging tactical combat in my opinion. IMO, combat is much better in this game than it is in AoW3. (Obviously, there are certain attacks which are one shot regardless ) And you can see how many retaliatory strikes units have by the number of red shields under their icon. It's not a Tier 1 support skill so some folks might have missed this )Ĭombat is the same as the previous two games in the sense that the more action points you have, the more times you can hit. You can customise your heroes with a support skill which increase the amount of hit points their units recover per movement point spent resting in a friendly zone. There is healing in the game, just as much as there was in either AoW3 and Planetfall but it's managedslightly differently. Bye bye units at great speed unless you're prepped for that combat beforehand. Some factions can be very tanky (Dwarves for example) which can slow down combat quite a bit but wait until they meet up with an electrical attacker. There's much more focus on melee and magic combat in this game than there is in Planetfall which is mostly ranged. The camera is more restrictive than it was in AoW 3 and it makes certain kinds of ground feel awkward to fight on. If I would complain about one thing it would be the battlefields themselves, especially the sloped ones. So as far as I'm concerned, they've taken the best elements from the past games and then added a nice new morale system on top. An X-Com style cover system makes sense in a world of high technology where almost every attack is ranged, and not so much in a pseudo-medieval fantasy world, which is why cover now involves hiding in bushes, being on battlements, etc. Some people were complaining that the cover system in AoW 4 isn't as explicit as in Planetfall, but the reason for that is to do with the genre. ![]() The battles in AoW 3 were streamlined in certain regards compared to those from AoW 2, but AoW 4 has restored those lost elements, like ranged units being capable of missing their targets and accidentally hitting their allies. I prefer the AoW 4 battles compared to those from AoW 3 or Planetfall. ![]()
